Wylder has teamed up with the Salmon Sisters for an incredible journey into the untamed beauty of Homer, Alaska and its surrounding ecosystem. Our basecamp is a pristine wilderness lodge in Kachemak Bay with spectacular mountain, glacier, and sea views, private cabins, wood-fired sauna, outdoor hot tub, and a solarium with panoramic views of the wilderness.

IMMERSIVE ADVENTURE

Guided by the expertise of the Salmon Sisters and Wylder, this trip is built for exploration of the sea and surrounding landscape of Kachemak Bay, Alaska. Participants will enjoy a wilderness lodge experience which includes gourmet meals, optional daily yoga, hiking, nature journaling, learning about salmon fishing, and taking a private fishing charter. Participants will also enjoy a day of professional wilderness guide service with your choice of a private boat ride and hike to Grewingk Glacier Lake, sea kayaking around the Lodge, or guided casual beach fishing for salmon. You will experience a hands-on immersion into the ecology of Kachemak Bay. 

Prepare your catch

Each night we’ll retire to the lodge and enjoy locally-sourced fresh prepared meals. Learn about marine biodiversity and how to prepare your catch through food workshops led by the Salmon Sisters and Alaskan chefs.

Accomodations

The Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge is nestled in a spectacular ocean and mountain setting abundant with wildlife, birds and sealife, and it's remote location is the Best in Alaska. With just five cabins, they generally host 10–12 guests per week. This world-class Lodge features private, deluxe accommodations and gourmet five-star meals. Each accommodation is a shared cabin. Each of the Lodge’s private cabins and accommodations feature spectacular mountain and ocean views. From intricate woodwork and personal touches like stained glass, sweeping roof beams, and local Alaskan art, each has a special character all its own. All cabins have electricity, cozy bedroom(s) with luxurious bedding, bathroom with shower and robes, living room, and deck.

The Fine Print

Trip does not include airfare to and from Homer, Alaska. We recommend Alaska Airlines flights to Anchorage, AK, and from Anchorage, there is a short flight on Ravn Air from Anchorage to Homer. This is the easiest and fastest way to get to Homer. There are also buses from Anchorage to Homer, but they take 4-6 hours. The Lodge is located on the shores of China Poot Bay, a half hour boat ride across Kachemak Bay from Homer. Guests meet Lodge staff the afternoon of Monday September 3 at the Boat House Pavilion by Ramp #2 of the Homer Boat Harbor near the end of the Homer Spit. Our trip officially ends when we return to the Homer Port & Harbor on Friday, Sept. 7th; the afternoon in Homer is optional for trip participants. After we receive your deposit, you will be emailed a Participant Information Packet that must be completed and sent back to us within 14 days. You will then receive a pre-trip itinerary with a packing list, payment invoice, and any other information needed. No refunds will be given for unused accommodations, meals, gear, transportation or arrangements for any reason whatsoever. Cancellation and refund policy applies to entire land cost of trip, including trip cost, park fees, permits, and taxes. Any refunds will be remitted by check. If cancellation takes place between 60-90 days prior to your departure, 50% of the trip price will be forfeited. If cancellation takes place less than 60 days prior to your departure date, 100% of the trip price will be forfeited.

Our trips are open to all ages and genders. While you should be in reasonable health to fully enjoy your trip, you don't need to be an athlete or rugged outdoorsperson. Many activities are low-impact and involve fairly easy travel. However, your booking is accepted on the understanding that you realize and accept the potential risks involved in adventure travel, and that you are mentally and physically capable of undertaking your chosen trip.
